《英语听力》共两册，供大专院校英语专业听力课使用，也可供具有较高英语水平的其他专业的研究生、本科生和科技人员等广大英语学习者选用。同时，对于参加PRETECO(全国高等学校英语应用能力考试)的学生而言，也是理想的听力训练教材。 本书共40单元，内容侧重于训练学生的听力理解能力和思维能力。每单元首先列出与听力有关的一些格言，强调了“听”在交流中的重要性，然后从简单的句子和对话过渡到听写，以及听笑话与故事、小短文、诗与歌曲，以多种多样的形式，轻松有趣、范围较广的话题，着重突出了单词辨音训练和数字辨音训练，旨在帮助学生掌握必要的语音规则，形成良好的语言习惯，增强理解能力，抓住要点和细节，并进行推理，进一步分析说话者的真实意图。
